To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of its foundation, AFEC, the Spanish Air
Conditioning Equipment Manufacturers Association (Asociación de Fabricantes de
Equipos de Climatización), recently organized the Forum-Conference Climate,
Energy and Sustainability, dedicated to the analysis of the interrelation
between air conditioning, energy and sustainability.

The ceremony, which took place at the Linares Palace of Madrid, received
many industry professionals who participated in a lively conference that
followed the presentation of technical papers, reveals the associations press
release. Aurelio García, Presidente de Afec, was in charge of welcoming the
audience, and Juan Antonio Alonso, IDAEs Energy Savings and Efficiency
Director, was in charge of introducing and presenting all speakers. Susana
Bañares, Director of the Demand Management Department of the Spanish Electrical
Network (Red Eléctrica Española), talked about sustainability and electrical
demand management.
Pedro Prieto, Director of IDAEs Domestic and Buildings Department, talked
about the efficient energy end use and energy services in the air conditioning
sector. Eloy de Sola, Secretary General, Afec, presented a paper on
sustainability and the air conditioning industry in Spain. De Sola praised the spanish
industry for its adaptation to the new laws and the development of much more environmentally
friendly equipment. De Sola also pointed out what he described as the remarkable
activities of Afec, such as its active participation in Eurovent, the Quality
Plan developed in cooperation with Atecyr, the Communication Plan and the Mankind
Heritage Cities Project.
