While attending the International Congress of Refrigeration in Beijing in August, ASHRAE President Kent Peterson met with
officials from the Chinese Association of Refrigeration (CAR) to further
collaborative efforts between the groups.
 The objective of the CAR-ASHRAE relationship is to help advance the
arts and science of heating, ventilating, air conditioning and refrigeration of
ASHRAE members and other engineers in China through the exchange of
technical and application knowledge, said Peterson. CAR and ASHRAE have held
meetings over the past several years to plan joint activities. ASHRAE
and CAR are discussing holding a Sino-American technical seminar in conjunction
with the China Refrigeration Expo in Shanghai, April 911, 2008.
CR Expo is expected to attract nearly 900 exhibitors from 30 nations.
Some of the topics suggested for the seminar of interest to Chinese
practitioners are how to achieve and implement sustainable building design;
district cooling and heating; building energy performance and evaluation; and
HVACR system design criteria. There are 78 ASHRAE members in China. ASHRAE
also has a chapter in Hong Kong that has 800
members, reveals the associations press release. |
