The IV edition of the Mediterranean HVAC Congress, CLIMAMED, which took place on
September 5th 7th in the Italian city of Genoa, was organized by AICARR (Italian
Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Association) in cooperation with AICVF
(French Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Engineers Association),
APIRAC (Portuguese Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Industry Association), and
ATECYR (Spanish Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technical Association), under
the patronage of REHVA (Federation of European Heating and Air Conditioning
Associations).
During the three days of the congress more than a hundred papers were
presented, mostly Italian, even though there were also several speakers from
the Mediterranean region. According to Atecyrs press release,
Jaime Sordo, its president, offered a conference to present spanish initiatives
for energy efficiency, in accordance with the new laws (Building Technical Code,
Buildings Thermal Installations Rules and Energy Certification in New Buildings).
In one of these meetings it was agreed to celebrate this congress every
other year so that there is more time to present papers of interest. Also, a
proposal to open the congress to other Mediterranean countries, such as Turkey and Morocco if they ask for admittance
in Climamed, was made, with the sole requirement of accepting the existing
agreement between the four founding associations. The next edition of Climamed will
take place in Portugal,
in 2009.
