Gary Benson, President of Mechanovent Corporation, a New York Blower
Company located in Willowbrook (Illinois), was
recently elected as the President of the Air Movement and Control Association,
Inc. (AMCA International)
at the associations Annual Meeting held in Phoenix
(Arizona).

Mr. Benson was instrumental in the development of system optimization
whereby microprocessor based HVAC equipment communicates with building
management systems for increased occupancy comfort, reduced energy consumption,
and improved equipment reliability. According to the associations press
release, since joining the industry in 1987, he has been an enthusiastic
supporter of industry improvement, both in the development of equipment
standards and business practices, and as such has enjoyed a lengthy association
with AMCA International, not only as a member, but also serving as Chairman for
various committees and taskforces. Elected to the AMCA Board of Directors in
1999, Mr. Benson has served on the AMCA Executive Committee since 2005, and
this past year as Vice President of AMCA.
When asked about his plans for this coming year as the new AMCA President, Mr.
Benson stated: I plan to focus my efforts towards completion of AMCAs
strategic plan, with particular emphasis on the following goals: ensure maximum
return on investment to the associations 250 members throughout the world,
providing quality services and support exemplified by efficient product
testing, technical education, certification programs, and effective association
meetings, timely completion of the renovation project underway at AMCA
headquarters in compliance with LEED requirements, continuing to strengthen the
associations fiscal position through adequate financial reserves, and support
green initiatives and sustainable technologies as developed by ASHRAE and other
industry and governmental bodies.
