After more than 200 people attended the 2008 Building Services Awards at
the Coventry Hilton in May, BCIA (Building
Controls Industry Association) is already planning the 2009 Awards, which will
be preceded by the 2009 BCIA Conference. The
theme for the Conference will be Save money: use controls, which emphasises
the vital role that building controls have in reducing energy bills for
building owners and occupants.
The 2009 conference is
focused firmly on educating end-users and specifiers about the contribution
that BEMS can make to achieving a good score on Energy Performance Certificates
and Display Energy Certificates. The 2009 BCIA Conference will also highlight
the fact that controls are one of the most cost-effective solutions for dealing
with the challenge of increasing energy bills. The 2009 Conference will include
round table discussions to be held during lunch time, in which delegates can
take an active role. Each table will discuss a different aspect of energy
saving, monitoring, controls strategies and other hot topics.
BCIA has also recently launched its own website to improve promotion of
the Associations work, as well as highlighting the important role of building
controls in energy efficient buildings. The website has a specially designed
members section, which includes details about the company, with space for
information on products and services offered. This links to members own corporate websites. There are also more news
and features, to make the BCIA and its work more accessible to specifiers, the
press and people interested in developing a career in buildings controls,
reveals the entitys press release.
