City & Guilds has recently
warned that, depending on when qualification was achieved, some 2078 refrigerant
handling certificates are not valid as an interim
qualification under the F-Gas regulations.
The Government-run F-Gas Support has stressed that the 2078 qualification will
not be valid as an interim qualification if achieved after 9 March 2009 (for
existing engineers) or after 4 March 2009 for new entrants to the industry. Achieved 2078s before these dates would be counted as an interim certificate
under the legislation.
According to City
& Guilds, if an engineer does not hold a 2078
qualification dated before March 09,
in order to comply with F-Gas legislation, he must not work on systems containing
F-gases unless he has achieved City & Guilds 2079 or the CITB equivalent. |
