Los VergelesSiemens Energy has been awarded an order for 70 wind turbines for the Los Vergeles wind farm in Tamaulipas, Mexico. Purchaser is Grupo Soluciones en Energias Renovables (GSEER), a Mexican wind energy developer. With a total installed rated capacity of more than 160 megawatts (MW), the Los Vergeles wind farm is expected to provide clean power to 200,000 households, making it Mexico’s largest wind farm.

The Siemens scope of supply includes delivery, installation and commissioning of the 70 wind turbines with a rated capacity of 2.3 MW each. In addition, Siemens will also execute its first 5-year operation and maintenance (O&M) agreement in the Americas for a wind project.

“The Latin America wind power market is expected to grow significantly in the years to come and the contract with GSEER marks Siemens’ entry into this exciting market”, said Andreas Nauen, CEO of the Siemens Wind Power Business Unit. “It is also the largest order for our new wind turbine to date.”
