BSRIA has launched its new certification body, BSRIA Cert. This new company will provide dedicated product certification services within building services and construction.

BSRIA Cert will provide schemes that help manufacturers and suppliers to differentiate products based on performance, plus expert guidance for specifiers and designers.

The certification schemes will combine product testing (already a core BSRIA service), factory production control (FPC) auditing and practical product classification. Schemes and guidance are also geared to helping designers and specifiers understand the key performance criteria for product selection.

BSRIA Cert works in collaboration with industry to ensure that schemes and guidance are appropriate to the need surrounding the particular product. BSRIA Cert's first schemes will be for weather louvres and pressure independent control valves (PICVs) with further schemes under development.

Chris Marney, BSRIA Cert's Certification Manager, introduced the new certification body at BSRIA's AGM on 13 October. He said "BSRIA Cert's mission is to lower the buying risk for specifiers to enable confident, value-based product selection. This is also good news for manufacturers and suppliers, who can operate on a level playing field and see innovative product designs adopted more quickly."
