Heat pumps will be one of the key themes at Chillventa, as already
shown by the subtitle of this industry event that takes place for the first
time from 15-17 October 2008
in Nürnberg: International Trade Fair for Refrigeration,
Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Heat Pumps.
The sales figures for heat
pumps for room heating have more than doubled in Germany from 2005 to 2006,
France has registered 50 % growth, Austria 45 %, Switzerland about 30 % and
Sweden 20 %. Such growth rates are naturally encouraging. They do, however,
carry the risk that quality will suffer, as the pressure of competition between
the manufacturers is great and plant assemblers need suitable expertise. The exchange of
views and knowledge transfer between all concerned from end consumer and plant
assembler to manufacturer are essential requirements if the heat pump sector is
to remain successful in the future.

Completely in the spirit of this strategy, the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg was
also the setting for the 1st International Heat Pump Symposium, which took
place on 18
th 19
th September 2007. According to the
organizers press release, it was prepared and organized by Dr. Jakobs, member of
the Chillventa Exhibition Committee, and Prof. Laue, both of the German
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Society (DKV), with the support of
NürnbergMesse, and dealt with topics like the importance of heat pumps in the
EU countries, limits, obstacles and experiences of using heat pumps, and heat pumps
for heating and cooling. It has already been decided to organize a
follow-up event at Chillventa next year. We are delighted that the heat pump
industry has also become a substantial part of Chillventa through this event,
said Exhibition Director, Gabriele Hannwacker.
