In an effort to guide and
promote professional food and cold chain logistics in China, Food Logistics Commission of
China National Food Industry Association recently formed a partnership with
Reed Exhibitions to highlight food and cold chain logistics during SITL ASIA 2007. Both
logistics service and equipment providers have been invited to join as
exhibiting companies, and member companies of China Food Industry Association were
also invited to visit the show and learn how professional logistics services
can help them maintain product quality and reduce overall costs.
'In recent years, the Chinese cold chain logistics market is developing
dramatically with demand for about 100 million tons each year, an annual
increase rate of over 8 percent. On the other hand, China
is still lagging far behind developed countries in America
and Europe in terms of cold chain logistics
service practices and standards. And it results in large quantity of food waste
each year, says the Commissions Secretary General. 'On the other hand, it
also means theres a great market opportunity for professional logistics
service, as well as equipment and facility providers. We hope at this international
business and information platform both end users and service providers in this
sector can learn a lot for better practices and better choices, he added.
The initiative has also received support from Global Cold Chain Alliance (GCCA),
reveals the event organizers press release. Ms. Mabel Zhuang, the representative
of GCCA in China,
said GCCA would be happy to render support to the event by sharing
international standard and good practices in the area with Chinese peers. We
would also like to inform our members about this opportunity to learn more
about the cold chain logistics market, as well as potential partners in China.
