The Association of European
Refrigeration Compressor and Controls Manufacturers (ASERCOM) has presented this
years ASERCOM Energy Efficiency Award (10,000 euro), which is granted to
outstanding innovative concepts in the field of air conditioning and
refrigeration technology (including heat pumps) that contain a high degree of
energy efficiency and thus contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases in a
significant way.
The award was presented
during the ASERCOM + EPEE Symposium at Chillventa by Michael Mueller,
Parliamentary State Secretary in the German Federal Ministry for the
Environment. An international jury (Prof. Clodic, France - Prof. Quack, Germany - Prof. van der Ree, Netherlands) selected unanimously
the application of the German company ebm-papst for the award 2008. This company - a well known German manufacturer of
fans and associated electric motors - introduces now a new range of very
efficient axial fans with integrated energy saving motor, e.g. for refrigerated
supermarket display cabinets and bottle coolers. According to a speaker of the
association, the award competition was again a great success, attracting just
as in the past a remarkable number of high quality applications.
The symposium took place a day before the start of the trade fair on the
Nuremberg fair
grounds. Under the general theme
Energy Efficiency Environment Protection, this event, which was for the
first time jointly organised by ASERCOM and EPEE, was a prelude to Chillventa. The first part of
the symposium was dedicated to political issues and had keynote speakers
talking about recently introduced EU directives, as well as regulations
currently in the process of discussion. The second half centred on applications
in various market segments resulting from the new rules and regulations,
reveals the associations press release.
