DuPont Refrigerants has granted global rights to Honeywell to market
R-422D refrigerant. The new agreement is in
anticipation of the expected surge in market demand, and field support, for
R-422D refrigerant, following the ban of virgin HCFC R-22 on January 1, 2010. R-422D is currently sold by DuPont under the trademark
ISCEON MO29. By broadening the distribution
network for this cost-effective and efficient retrofit solution, DuPont will be
able to commit greater resources to helping customers meet the R-22 phase-out
deadline and leading the transition away from ozone-depleting substances.
According to EU regulation
2037/2000, the recharge of refrigeration and air-conditioning systems with
virgin HCFC refrigerants (predominantly R-22) will be banned effective 1
January 2010. This has left owners of air
conditioning and refrigeration equipment seeking compliant solutions that will
enable them to operate and maintain their R-22 equipment after this deadline. Over recent years, DuPont ISCEON MO29 refrigerant
(R-422D) has become the preferred option for many of these end-users, and their
service contractors, due to its versatility as a replacement for R22
replacement in a variety of refrigeration and air conditioning applications,
reveals the companys press release.
A
significant number of existing installations are already being converted across
the EU, and the pace is accelerating, comments Pascal Faidy, EMEA Marketing
Manager, DuPont Refrigerants. Our agreement with
Honeywell further reinforces the position of R-422D refrigerant as the industry
standard, preferred R-22 retrofit refrigerant, and will provide the marketplace
with more resources available for information sessions, seminars, trials and
onsite retrofit assistance.
