The Institute of Refrigeration (IOR) has announced
the IOR and CIBSE joint conference Making a case for air-conditioning,
which will take place on October 20th, 2008, in London.
Sponsored by Jaeggi, this one-day
conference will explore the context of the climate change agenda and how it is
affecting building services engineering and air conditioning design and
installation.
As environmental issues and sustainable buildings become higher priority
issues, building owners are more and more often asking the question - do we
really need to air conditioning our buildings? Facilities managers,
building services consultants and design engineers need to understand these
issues and the impact they will have on future specifications for the air
conditioning and cooling. Speakers, who are leading researchers and practical
engineers will focus on the design issues of creating buildings that provide
good working environments whilst at the same time minimising their
environmental impact. We will look at a range of legislative and
evaluative tools to support innovative approaches and conclude with some
compelling case studies illustrating the way forward.
According to the entitys
press release, it will be of particular interest to buildings engineers,
ventilation and cooling specialists, facilities managers, building owners,
coolign equipment manufacturers and suppliers, technical managers and anyone
with an interest in improving the way we air-condition and cool buildings.
