The organizers of the 3rd IIR International Conference Ammonia Refrigeration Technology, which will take place on May 7th – 9th, 2009, in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia, recently announced extended deadlines for paper submissions. Skopje University has also highlighted the presentation of its Refrigeration Software at Chillventa 2008.

The President of the Conference Organizing Committee, Mr. Risto Ciconkov, informed that the deadline for abstract submission is extended, and that the deadline for submission of the full paper is January 15, 2009. He recalled the topics of the conference: design of modern ammonia systems and technological innovation, improving energy efficiency, various applications, technical guidelines and safety regulations.

Skopje University has 30 years experience in refrigeration software, it has participated in IKK Nuremberg since 1994 and now in Chillventa, where it showcased the institution’s refrigeration software. This consists of 20 independent programs, most of them for heat exchangers: shell-and-tube condensers, shell-and-tube dry and flooded evaporators, air-cooled condensers, air coolers (evaporators) and heat exchangers for liquid chilling. Ozone friendly refrigerants like R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A and Ammonia are included too.


The programs COLDROOM and FREEZING calculate refrigeration loads for cold rooms and freezing tunnels (including spiral and blast freezers). They are applicable for large and small capacities, walls with one or more layers with different materials, normal and low storage temperature, indoor and outdoor installation, different kind of products. A unique book - “Refrigeration - Solved Examples” - complements the software and is available in English and German, reveals the university’s press release.
