Cool Designs Ltd, which specialises in designing and distributing air conditioning and heat pump systems, recently spent a ‘Hollyoaks’ weekend helping to raise over £4,000  for the All Stars Charity, which, was raising funds for the Wingate Centre in Cheshire. The centre provides much needed facilities for disabled children.

Explaining the charity weekend, Darrel Birkett, managing director of Cool Designs said, “The weekend was mainly to raise money for the Wingate centre.  But, as we found out about Ria, a young girl with cerebral palsy who needs at least £50,000 to receive treatment in America, we tagged this on to the weekend.

“The idea was for CDL/Charity All Stars to make a donation to Ria from the amounts raised over this weekend and the final two events of the season (games against a Man Utd eleven and an AC Milan eleven).

The weekend kicked off with a charity ball, which was attended by 200 people including some of the cast from Hollyoaks, Wingate Centre fundraisers, members of the All Stars Charity, Toshiba Air Conditioning, Cool Designs Ltd, which was sponsoring the event and its staff and customers. “We try to give something back”, said Mr Birkett, “and this seemed like a good way of doing so.”

The following day was another kickoff, this time a charity football match between the All Stars and a team from Hollyoaks. This was a ticket game open to the public with monies raised going to the Wingate Centre.

Cool Designs sponsored the All Stars shirts, invited its customers along to ‘support’ and helped with further fund raising efforts.

“We have supported the All Stars charity football matches further this year”, said Mr Birkett. “The final two matches were Man United veterans and AC Milan veterans.  These were great fun as well as providing an opportunity to raise even more charity funds.”
