Sanyo crowns year of awards success with two top industry accolades PDF Print E-mail

Sanyo has crowned a year of awards success by winning two of the industry’s most coveted awards, for Air Conditioning Product of the Year and for an outstanding project.

On the technology front, Sanyo’s pioneering Series 6 VRF system has won the Air Conditioning Product of the Year Award in the Cooling Industry Awards 2011, held at the Hilton Hotel on Park Lane, London.

The judges praised the Series 6 for combining a host of genuine technical innovations in this highly competitive sector, delivering a system that was more efficient, quieter, more compact and easier to install and service.

On the applications front, the company has won the Project of the Year Award in the HVR Magazine Awards 2011 for an installation of its ground-breaking ECO CO2 heat pump at Woodsrping Priory, a 13th Century former Augustinian Priory near Weston-super-Mare.

The accolades top a year of award success for Sanyo Air Conditioners. The company’s also won the Environmental Achievement of the Year Award for its ECO CO2 heat pump at the ACR News magazine awards held earlier this year.

Sanyo also received two Highly Commended Awards for innovation and low carbon performance in the National Heat Pump Awards, held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham.

Sanyo’s Series 6 is the first VRF in the market that can be configured to operate in either ultra high efficiency mode or high performance mode – giving end users a choice not available before in a single unit.

Its outstanding COP of 4.57 for the 8hp unit in heating mode – an improvement of 11 per cent on a previous class leader – sets a new benchmark in frugal performance. With a maximum pipe length of up to 1km (1000m), it has immense flexibility and vastly extended application.

The Series 6 can accept up to 64 indoor units from a duplex outdoor unit (107kW), and is available in an R22 Renewal version, enabling rapid and low cost replacement of obsolete and environmentally damaging R22 systems.

Equipped with refrigerant charge prediction system for accurate and quick charging, performance optimisation is built in and ensures continued energy efficient operation over its lifetime. Compressor life is also extended due to automatic run-time sharing between units. High external static pressure fans enhance performance and efficiency even further.

The ability to provide low temperature cooling down to 10degC, enables the system to be used for applications such as food processing or industrial process applications.

Bob Cowlard, who heads up the company in Europe, said: “It has been an outstanding year for Sanyo. Its creativity, engineering flair and technical excellence have been recognised and celebrated by the industry at large, which is of course gratifying.

“It provides independent endorsement for our long-held view - that Sanyo not only ‘punches above its weight’ in the market; but that it can deliver a knock-out blow when it comes to brilliant design and engineering quality. Congratulations and thank you to all the people on the Sanyo team whose hard-work, creativity and inspiration have made this achievement possible.”
