John Miller, President of the Heating and Ventilating Contractors Association (HVCA), speaking at
the inaugural Presidents Luncheon, which was held at the British Association
of Film and Television Arts, on 13th September 2007, criticised the Government
for its failure to enforce revisions to Building Regulations legislation.
The HVCAs disquiet arises
from the fact that, having put such enlightened and
environmentally responsible legislation in place, the Government seems quite
unable, or unwilling, to enforce it. He added: Indeed, many of our members
report that, not only are building control departments up and down the country
failing to police the regulations, but that many of them are quite deliberately
turning a blind eye to the new regime.
According to the associations press release, Mr Miller also reminded
the audience that the HVCA members contribute very significantly to the
commercial well-being and future prosperity of UK Plc, and the Association is
one of the longest established trade bodies in the UK, ranking amongst the
nations premier trade associations, not only within construction but across
British industry as a whole.
