Alfa Laval, a world leader in heat transfer, centrifugal
separation and fluid handling, has received an order for plate heat exchangers
from a company in the growing Russian power industry shortly after having
acquired a German company specialized in welded heat exchangers.
The order value is about SEK 50 million
and delivery is scheduled for 2009. Some 50 percent of Alfa Lavals order
intake during the first half of 2008 derives from the fast growing regions of
Eastern Europe, Asia and Latin America, says Lars Renström, President and CEO
of the Alfa Laval Group. Russia is definitely one of the engines behind this
development. We continue to expand our presence in the country to meet the demand
from the energy, environment and food markets. Alfa Laval opened its first
office in Russia in 1903 and
today the company has 15 sales offices in Russia
of which five are located east of the Ural Mountains.
During the last years Alfa Laval has had double digit, profitable growth in Russia and
annual sales is about SEK 1 billion, reveals the companys press release.
Alfa Laval has also
recently acquired Pressko AG, a German specialist company providing fully welded
heat exchangers. Pressko was founded in March of 2000, and its focus has been
high pressure, high temperature fully welded products for markets including
refrigeration, chemical, pharmaceutical and marine applications. Presskos
estimated sales 2008 are about SEK 50 million, and it will become part of
Tranter Europe providing a welded product base in one of the worlds most
significant heat exchanger markets. The acquisition of Pressko supports the
strategy of the Alfa Laval Group to primarily acquire companies that
complement the existing business in terms of products, geography or in the form
of new sales channels.
