TROX GROUP has been included in the private project of the
Library rehabilitation, in Newcastle,
UK, an
investment that has reached the £40m. For this project, TROX developed roof-mounted
multiservice chilled beams. Considering the existing space limitations, not all
chilled beams provide cooling air through a duct, but some units are
individually controlled by fans, keeping the same visual appearance in the
occupied area.
Within this project, special areas have been treated, the so-called "glass
boxes" where the beams, in the absence of false ceilings, were installed in
a panorama perspective, so that each multi-unit includes a fan. These reflect a
need for custom design of the facility, thus satisfying the project technical and
aesthetic requirements.
According to the companys press release, the main challenge consisted in
assembling the units, and its integration inside the building. The aerodynamic
shape of the front, with outstretched wings on both sides, ensures the coanda
effect and the proper air distribution. To meet the project requirements, the
units were tested at the TROX laboratories.
