On Thursday 26 August 2010 Mr Niels Due Jensen, Group Chairman of the Grundfos Group, celebrated his 50-year jubilee with the pump manufacturer that he has taken a great part in making the worlds largest. He was two years old when his father, Poul Due Jensen, established the company in the basement of the home in Østergade in the small town Bjerringbro, Denmark, and Grundfos has been Niels Due Jensens life ever since. He served an apprenticeship as engine fitter in 1960, and afterwards he qualified as a mechanical engineer at Arhus Teknikum. In 1974 he had his first managership in Grundfos.
In 1977 Niels Due Jensens father died at the age of 65, and Niels Due Jensen took over the responsibility for Grundfos. In that way he came to administer an inheritance that has shaped his life and view of human nature. It has turned Niels Due Jensen into a whole person.
All up to 2003 he had the job as the groups natural and day-to-day head, and he took a number of initiatives of great importance to Grundfos present position as one of Denmarks leading groups with companies almost all over the world and with a technological lead over the competitors. Since Niels Due Jensen resigned as Grundfos Group President in 2003 he has not been part of the day-to-day management of the company, but is now the engaged Group Chairman.
