Fläkt Woods is a leading global supplier of energy-efficient air solutions operating in both the air climate for buildings and air movement for the infrastructure and industry markets. For Buildings, the Group provides energy-efficient indoor air climate products and solutions to supply people with clean, comfortable and fresh air in non-residential buildings. For Infrastructure and Industry, the Group provides air movement products and services including fans for cooling systems, and also for increasing the efficiency, environmental performance and safe operation of equipment and processes.
GREASEFIGHTER - The New Generation of Kitchen Canopy Fan from Fläkt Woods
Fläkt Woods has launched the new Powerbox - Greasefighter, a new generation of kitchen canopy fan, featuring an externally located motor, enabling high performance canopy extraction, at high temperatures. Featuring motor-out-of-airstream, the new Greasefighter can operate within much higher ambient temperatures, of up to 80oC.
Greasefighter has been purpose-designed for commercial kitchen exhaust systems, to remove heat produced by cooking appliances, as well as kitchen odours, smoke and products of combustion, in order to maintain a comfortable working environment for kitchen staff.
Says Faye Young, External Sales Engineer at Fläkt Woods As a result of tighter legislation, the system resistance in traditional canopy solutions is dramatically increasing. Filtration of contaminated air and odours means that fans suitable for use with carbon filters are required. Our new Powerbox - Greasefighter can cope with the demand for high pressure systems and the customer can also benefit from multiple outlet positions, at 90o to the inlet potentially saving up to 2-3 metres of ducting per installation where space is limited.
Its compact design combined with its housing construction of double skinned pre-fabricated mild sheet steel makes the product suitable for either internal or external mounting. The Powerbox - Greasefighter is also acoustically lined as standard and is one of the quietest motor out of airstream canopy fan solutions available.
Today, kitchen extraction system must now meet tough regulations relating to extract rates, ventilation, temperature control and duct-work within the kitchen, concludes Faye Young,. It must also adhere to noise control requirements as well as odour control restrictions, that is why the only total solution to canopy extraction has to be the Greasefighter.
Three new versions of Fläkt Woods of Jet Thrust Fan system
Incorporating new technology and innovative designs, Fläkt Woods has launched three new versions of its famed Jet Thrust Fan system.
The first new version features a completely redesigned high performance impeller. Fläkt Woods has accomplished this by creating a new tip feature. Using acoustic traversing, in their Colchester laboratories, they identified how blade tip design could be modified to reduce aerodynamically induced acoustic emissions, and help achieve greater energy efficiencies.
Our impeller designs have changed significantly since we first launched out Jet Thrurst Fan range comments Paul Wenden, Engineering and Product Management Director, over the years we have adapted and changed our fan designs and thanks to the latest technology, they are now far quieter and use less energy than before.
A second new fan is a ductless version; this low profile type is aesthetically pleasing and capable of withstanding temperatures of 3000C for 2 hours. With a motor incorporated within the fan and a tapered silencer, the fan will prove popular with car park designers looking to make car park environments lighter and less cluttered.
The third new form is an induction fan, manufactured in Colchester and available in two styles, a 50 and a 100 Newton fan. Both are approved for temperatures of 4000C for 2 hours, and like the two other new fans, this is purpose designed to reduce carbon monoxide levels and to assist with the extraction of smoke in the event of a fire.
Jet Thrust Fans are ideal for use in car parks as they eliminate distribution ductwork and make the car parks a lighter, less cluttered environment, including cost savings, all round efficiency and optimal performance. The use of detection/control equipment offered will contribute to considerable savings in running costs.
Tests have shown that there is a significant improvement in the time taken to clear the car park of smoke when using the new systems compared with traditional ducted systems.
